Information on the Bareboat Sailing Yachts

This section is to be used as a guide to the yachts commonly chartered on our bareboat yacht charters. This is because the yachts and particularly the inventory do vary from base to base, and country to country. Photos are indicative only and are typically manufacturer brochure pictures.

For specific yacht information please always refer to us here in the office, we're happy to assist with the details by email or over the phone.

BareboatSailingHolidays.com is the bareboat desk at Sailing Holidays Ltd, the flotilla specialists. We do not use flotilla yachts for our bareboat charters. Instead we source bareboat yachts with all the appropriate bareboat kit and inventory from a select pool of pre-approved yacht charter firms throughout Europe.

As there are literally tens of thousands of yachts available for charter in the Mediterranean with varying degrees of age and quality, we are very selective about the people and yachts we use.

Yacht Categories

The following categories relate to the age of the yacht being chartered. For specific information on each yacht please contact us.

Modern Line Yachts (< 3 years old)

These yachts are a maximum of 3 years old. All of these yachts have a holding tank. For specific ages of the yachts please refer to the individual yacht profiles or get in touch with us directly.

Class Line Yachts ( 4 - 5 years old)

These yachts are a maximum of 5 years old. Please note that some of the Dufour model yachts do not come with a holding tank, so please check with us regarding these.

Economy Line Yachts(> 5 years old)

These yachts are up to 10 years old. Some of these  yachts (in Greece and Italy in particular) do not come with a holding tank.

Yacht Standards / Quality

Please remember that as a yacht gets older, the more wear and tear will be evident and the higher the propensity for breakages - no matter how good the maintenance program.

Please remember that there is 'no such thing as a free lunch' - an economy yacht is cheaper than a modern yacht for a reason - it will not be in a new condition and there may be a higher risk of something going wrong.

Please take this into account when selecting a yacht for your next sailing holiday. The same applies for the aesthetics of the yacht, no matter how much the yacht is cleaned and polished the paint and decks will dull and the odd ding and scrape will occur.

Flights, Outboards, Transfers and End Cleaning

Remember that these are all extras to chartering a bareboat. We can arrange these for you but we always quote them separately as we work with third parties. You can of course take care of the flights and transfers yourself, to save some cash, or we can help you out with these. Outboards are generally €80 per week.

Holding Tanks in Greece and Italy

While all of the yachts that Sailing Holidays Ltd own have operational holding tanks, and while we do try to ensure that all partners that we work with have operational holding tanks, unfortunately it is not yet Greek or Italian law that yachts must have them fitted. We believe this is a disgraceful situation but as it is not law, a great number of operators do not have them. This includes some of the partners we work with.

Please do ask before booking if you have any concerns about this.
