Our Sailing Holidays

Whether you’re considering a sailing holiday for the first time, you’re moving on from flotilla sailing, or it’s just the first time to our site, this page aims to give you the lowdown of what our sailing holidays are all about.

We work like slaves most of time so please feel free to call us anytime to ask questions, we love to chat and we're not a pushy bunch so you won't come off the phone having booked a super yacht out of Monaco for two weeks (unless you want to....)

"Another Day, Another Bay"

A sailing holiday is incredibly flexible and gives you the near ultimate freedom of being able to move about when and where you want.

Imagine yourself by day anchored in a quiet bay, swimming off the back of your yacht in crystal clear water, snacking on fresh fruit and baking from local markets, and sunbathing in the Mediterranean sun. Now imagine yourself by night moored in a five star waterfront location on every island you visit, just a stones throw from the local tavernas and restaurants. It's what a sailing holiday is all about!

It’s a wise idea to do your route planning before you go, as in every location there are far more sights and sounds to see and hear than you'll have time. That's also why we provide helpful information with a ‘places to see guide’, as well as information and suggested itineraries on our website.

The long and short of it is if you’ve taken a liking to a particular bay and want to spend an extra night there – you can. Or if you’re keen to take on as many sea miles as you want – you can. It’s all within your reach, depending on Mother Nature of course.

What about the Yacht? The Basics...

For the uninitiated, a bareboat or skippered sailing holiday may appear far more complicated than it actually is. It’s often described as a floating self catered villa. A yacht has bedrooms (cabins), a lounge (saloon), kitchen (galley) and outdoor area (cockpit and err.. the ocean). The yacht that is best for you is usually just a question of how many 'bedrooms' you require. As the name suggests bareboat (also has been known as 'bareback' and 'barebones'!) is literally a ‘bare’ yacht with the standard equipment on board required to sail and be comfortable, such as linen, navigation and safety equipment.

On the Water Support

Before you arrive at your destination you will already have the base manager’s name, contact details and where the yachts are moored so there are no surprises.  When your yacht is ready to board you will be given a briefing by a member of the shore crew – this is your time to pipe up if you’ve any questions… seriously, you can ask questions at any time, it is just much easier and quicker for any problems to be rectified while you’re still at the base.

A frequent question is whether there is back up support when taking a bareboat and the answer is a resounding yes! – just because you’re taking a bareboat yacht does not mean you’ll get a quick cheerio and see you in a week when you leave.  There is on the water support, whether you’re just a metre out of the marina, on another island where an engineer can be arranged to meet you or whether you’re in the back of beyond and a rendezvous point can be arranged.

Skippered Charter

A sailing holiday is not limited to those who have been born and raised on the sea! It's a great activity even for those who've never set foot on a sailing boat.

If you can't, or don't want to sail and would like to give it a whirl or a sailor who simply hasn't had the time to get their skippers ticket – don’t worry! We also have Skippered charters too. Have look at our Skippered Charters page.

Choosing and Booking a Sailing Holiday

It's simple - as you would with any holiday firstly decide when and where you would like to visit and what size 'accommodation' you need. A boat has bedrooms (cabins) that fit two people, so base your requirements around that simple equation. The more cabins you want, the bigger the yacht.

A bareboat sailing holiday can be the yacht charter only or we can package it up for you to include flights and transfers.  We do find that more often than not that taking just the yacht is the preferred option, as there are so many low cost flights available you can often get an unbeatable price for them.
