Early and Late Season Sailing Inspiration

The general rule of thumb for sailing in late or early season is to head south!

A sailing holiday has always been a great way to get away from the crowds, just you, your yacht and the seas.  Well why not go one step further and head out of the high season?  Sailing the Med isn’t limited just to the peak summer months, with some of our bases being far enough south for you to really enjoy an early or late season sail, why not take the plunge and head out for a well deserved holiday away from the masses.

We’ve thought long and hard and come up with some suggestions for an early or late season sailing holiday that we think you’ll really enjoy.

Canary Islands, Spain

The Canary Islands in Spain are certainly the home of sailing early and late in the British sailing season. Situated off the western shores of Africa, the Canary Islands have a season stretching almost right through the year, with an average temperature in winter of 21 degrees and 28 degrees in summer. Sicily, Italy

Sicily is also a destination that benefits from early and late season good weather. In April and late October temperatures climb as high as 30 degrees. With many towns not reliant on nautical tourism you will also find restaurants and tavernas still plying their trade as well as the normal bustle that popular tourist locations offer. Marmaris, Turkey

Aside from the Canary Islands, the sailing area around and below Marmaris is the most southern we offer. Both early and late in the season the area around Marmaris offers better weather than locations further north. Early April right through to early November are realistic, although flights may be the only limiting factor. Click here for more on a bareboat charter in Marmaris...

Saronic Islands, Greece

Another area that benefits from good weather earlier and later in the season, are the Saronic Islands.  With flights readily available from the UK to Athens throughout the year, tourism that’s not reliant on nautical tourism and excellent sailing conditions the Saronic Islands are a great place to head to for a late or early break.
