Crewed and Skippered Yacht Charter
It's Easy to have a Skippered Yacht Charter! Not a sailor? No qualifications? Want a chauffeur? No problem!
Bareboat Sailing Holidays are easily able to provide a skipper and further crew for your sailing holiday so you can get on and get relaxing!
(you can save this to your computer, email it or print it out)
How does it work? It's very easy... We charter you a sailing yacht with a skipper who effectively 'drives' the boat for you around the Croatian, Turkish, Greek or Italian Islands - wherever you'd like to sail! You, your friends or your family can muck in as much or as little as you like - it is a great activity holiday for all the family. Conversely, if sipping a G&T while sunbathing is more your thing then you can leave it totally up to the skipper to do all the work, and sit back and enjoy.
Every night you will be in another port or bay, and during the day you can meander around the islands or just anchor in a bay or off a beach and use your yacht like an oversized diving platform.
Skippers allow for non-sailors or sailors without qualifications to charter a yacht and experience what we sailors have been going on about for years. Being invariably local, the skippers are also able to advise you on ports to visit, restaurants to eat, places to swim and dive and then of course what locations to avoid.
Who are the skippers?
In each location we have a pool of professional, experienced and qualified skippers to sail your yacht for you. From this ‘pool’ we are able to select the one best for you based on your individual requirements (leggy Spanish brunette, muscle bound Italian etc).
Your Skippered Charter Itinerary
When you take a skippered charter you are still in absolute charge of where and when you sail - within reason! With this flexibility also comes responsibility however, you should research the sailing area to work out what areas sound appealing to you. Not everyone is into historical architecture or partying until the early hours, so please use the 'places of interest' guides we send out, use our website and do research of your own...
Do also remember that not all requests are realistic, particularly with regard to weather. We suggest you sit with your skipper on the first night, open a bottle of your finest, get him to bring out maps of the area and go through your research and interests with him. Local knowledge goes a long long way!
PricesHiring a skipper is similar to hiring any piece of inventory (with all due respect to our skippers of course!), in that you order them as extra and we add the charge accordingly.
The cost of a skipper differs from location to location so please contact us directly for specific costs, but generally it's between £700 and £880 per week. Do also be aware that you are responsible for the skipper’s food as well. This doesn’t mean wining and dining your skipper, but rather ensuring there is enough cereal, bread, and sausages to go around!
The skipper also needs to have their own cabin, so please bear this in mind when organising your sailing holiday party. You are also responsible for the skippers food throughout the entire holiday.
What now?Basically it's like any other villa holiday! You should have a look at the different destinations and choose one you like the sound of. Selecting a yacht is the same as selecting a villa (six people will need at least three bedrooms (called cabins on a yacht) + one extra for the skipper = a four cabin yacht! The easiest way though - Request a personalised quote... !!
